About The Embers
We are a relaxed, friendly group of women who enjoy both the social aspect of getting together each week as well as the endorphin-triggering delight of singing together in harmony.
The main kinds of songs we sing are: world music; folk music; contemporary; and peace-themed songs. We sing acapella (no instruments; voices only), mostly in 3-part harmony.
- No auditions, no experience necessary.
- You do not need to be able to read music.
Christine Grodd has been our wonderful conductor since 2007. The Embers choir was formed in 2006 from members of the West End Women's Chorus who wanted to continue singing together when the former group was coming to an end.
We are women of all ages who love to sing together in harmony!
The Embers choir acknowledges the Turrbal, Jagera and Yuggera people, traditional owners of the land on which Meanjin/Maganjin/Brisbane is situated. We pay our respects to Aboriginal elders, past, present and emerging.
